While War Thunder can be enjoyable at times, the predatory practices of the company has gotten worse over the years to the point it resembles a mobile game (which it just released). The raising of in game costs for vehicle repairs, the lowering of vehicle research points on victories , and attempts at monetizing modifications and consumables (premium parts and fpe) are some of the more notable changes they have done to receive backlash from players. Along side those changes, the progression between vehicle tiers has increased as they have not adjusted research costs, and linked vehicles that were previously not required to progress a vehicle line. Meanwhile staff have repeatedly mocked players' criticism as well "free fpe and parts = free abrams".

If you wish to enjoy the game I recommend sticking to casual behavior, don't expect to get to modern vehicles like the Abrams (unless you have $60 to burn or $70 for an F-4), and play Simulator battles as they are the most neglected mode within the game.

Early Access Review
When I purchased this game for $20 USD, I was not expecting a lot for a small side-scroll style of game that was in early access. This game blew all my expectations out of the water (pun not intended), and is what I should have expected for an early access title. While full progress of the story is locked, there is plenty of side content and events that allow you to have fun without the need of the main story. I look forward to when this game is expected to launch out of ea.
