Outer Wilds is definitely something special.

I've tracked the development of this game since the first public build released back in 2015 (which I played to completion) and have been excitingly waiting for the full game ever since. Just for some background, this game is the product of developer Alex Beachum's 2013 master thesis in which he proposed the game. As such, it is almost 10 years in the making, being picked up by Annapurna Interactive publishing in 2015 or so. Upon release, I spent the next two or so days glued to my computer screen exploring the solar system that this cosmic adventure is all about. And after 5 years of waiting, boy, I can say it was everything I hoped it would be—and more.

Few games, if any games at all, do what Outer Wilds does. It is a magnificently well-crafted journey throughout the cosmos: sometimes fascinating, sometimes horrifying, and sometimes introspectful. Outer Wilds makes you appreciate not only its virtual denizens and landscapes, but real life's as well. It really is a one-of-a-kind journey, the likes of which make me truly appreciate how far gaming has come.

I recommend this game from the bottom of my heart. I just hope that when you do play it, you play it with the right mindset so as to fully appreciate the experience: this is an exploration-based game, after all. Although that's not to say it doesn't have adrenaline-pumping moments, it definitely has. As tranquil and "cozy" as it is, no other game has ever made me as tense and anxious with the stakes it presents. That said, do make arrangements to experience the game to its fullest—lights off and no interruptions of any kind.

I'll see you out there.
