A masterwork of storytelling, each branching choice you make is exciting/surprising/horrifying to find and experience. Voice acting and every piece of artwork are incredible as well, it's been awhile since I've played a game and finished it so quickly after just having started it.

An interesting mash-up which can best be described as a Soviet Bioshock. There are some head shaking moments in the game (every sentence the main protagonist utters, the thirsty upgrade fridge called Nora) but overall I really enjoyed it. The graphics, gameplay, and music are all top notch and I had a lot of fun exploring the open world and encountering all of the enemies the game throws at you. A few game design choices that others had issues with, the "respawning" enemies and a couple QTE boss fights, were not too much of a negative for me. You can disable the bots that repair enemies in a region for awhile if you want and I only died to one QTE in the whole game, the game gives you plenty of time to react to each button prompt. I would definitely recommend this game to anyone who enjoyed Bioshock or any other similar game like it.

I've been a huge fan of survival horror games ever since I first played Resident Evil 2, so I'm always excited to play any new addition to the genre. This game tries to set itself apart from Dead Space, but at it's core, that's what it is (which is definitely not a bad thing). The strong focus on melee combat over ranged was fun, but I'm glad I didn't struggle to find enough ammo for the weapons after the first couple of chapters. The story, graphics, and voice acting are all superb. One of the best looking games I've played ever so far (I never encountered any stuttering, but two patches later and I hear it's all sorted out). Who knew the star from Win a Date with Tad Hamilton! would make a good video game model or voice actor.

What an amazing series. After the remasters of 3, 4, and 5 were released, I made it my goal to play them one after another to finish up the franchise. 3 was good, about on par with Kiwami 1; 4 was interesting and a complete shock to play as different characters, but I was embracing the style by the time I started 5 (what a beast of a game by the way, almost took me as long to finish as Yakuza 0). But the heart of the games is playing as Kiryu and I was glad I'd be spending all of 6 with just him. What a finale, I'm not sure if it was better than Yakuza 0 or Kiwami 2, but it's definitely tied with how epic it was.

I thought RE7 was an interesting departure from the norm, but a welcome one after RE6. Finally getting back to it's survival horror roots, RE7 was a good base for whatever came next. Now imagine taking a lot of what made RE4 one of the best in the series (thank god they left out the escorting bits) and adding to that solid base from before. And . . . it works. Very well actually. Definitely more of a focus on action than survival horror this time around but as a whole, RE8 has moved right on up next to RE4 as one of the best in the franchise.

After Serious Sam 3, I did not have high hopes for this one. But this game comes close to being as SERIOUS as The First or Second Encounter. Sam reacquired a sense of humor since the last game and the action is miles better as well. Some of the animations on NPCs are questionable and there are a few levels that are much bigger than they need to be (The Package level could be removed without any loss to the game's story and there are less than a hundred enemies on it so you wouldn't miss out on any cool fights). Overall though, I highly recommend this game if you like SERIOUS action.

It feels like every game by Remedy thus far has been leading up to this one. Impressive destruction during fights, an intriguing story with unique and interesting characters with just enough backstory that makes it feel as if you're just barely scratching the surface with each collectible you pick up, as well as the old and familiar trademarks (helpful janitors, awesome music by Poets of the Fall, James McCaffrey's voice acting, "neighbor of the beast", strange but very good TV shows, etc). Never stop being awesome Remedy.

I've been a fan of Quantic Dream's games ever since I first played Fahrenheit. This is the best game by Quantic Dream thus far. Includes the best parts of Heavy Rain (Detective bits) and Beyond: Two Souls (Improved dialogue and voice acting, heartfelt story moments). I hope their next game is released on PC a lot sooner.
