How many times have you been listening to your favourite track in a heated game, rocking to dem beats, when suddenly- bam!

You need to alt-tab to adjust the volume, (or a track you don't like comes on!), and your game is disrupted or may even crash!

You can't play it separately (like on your ipod), because you want to be able to adjust the volume quickly on the fly! You can't use WMP, Winamp, or iTunes because that involves Alt-tabbing, which can get you killed!

I petition the addition of a Media (or music) player in the Steam in-game overlay, with the ability to change tracks, play, pause, and adjust volume at least.

Some of people are probably thinking what's the point in all this?

Well, *most* of the available media players going take up an annoying amount of memory. It doesn't render games unplayable by any means, but when the song changes or something like that, you get a little lag spike, usually when you're trying to backstab someone.

Apart from that, it's not very convenient when a song you don't feel like listening to comes on and you have to alt-tab your way out which wastes time and prompts some arsehole to yell "OMGZ THARS AN AFKER". You've also got certain games where alt-tabbing freezes the game and makes you need to end the Steam processes and restart or wait for it to stop being silly.

Basically, it's not a necessity, not my any means, but it would certainly be a nice addition to the Steam interface along with the web browser. Nothing big, just a bare-bones audio player.

i think, that valve should let us have plugins for steam, just like skins, if u know what i mean.

this will be a good feature and i think it's necessary too for convenient... at miniminal, valve only have to provide the audio control in steam overlay (play/pause/stop/prev/next/sound volume) and then link it with winamp or whatever free music apps that support hotkeys. the music processing then handled by that application, so valve doesn't need to build music engine. please make it comes true
