IMMEDIATE WARNING: Critical Security Risks in Older Call of Duty Titles - STOP PLAYING NOW
YOUR PC IS AT RISK
If you're playing older Call of Duty games on Steam, you're vulnerable to severe security exploits that can compromise your system, steal personal data, and put your device at risk of malicious activities.

Remote Code Execution (RCE) and Remote Access Trojan (RAT) exploits have been identified in:
-Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
-Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3
-Call of Duty: Ghosts
-Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare
-Call of Duty: Black Ops 1
-Call of Duty: Black Ops 2

Hackers can:
-Gain access to your PC, even if you're not in a lobby
-Execute arbitrary code, steal personal data, and compromise system security
-Utilize your device for malicious activities, such as DDOS attacks, audio/video recording, and credential theft

Activision has neglected to address these issues, leaving users exposed to potential harm. The store page descriptions are misleading, and purchasing these games can put your computer at risk.

Recommendations:
1. IMMEDIATELY STOP PLAYING these games online.
2. REFRAIN FROM PURCHASING older Call of Duty titles on Steam.
3. REPORT THESE GAMES AS HARMFUL and write reviews to warn others.
4. DEMAND ACTION FROM ACTIVISION to address these critical security issues and provide safe gaming experiences.

These problems have been known about for several years. Personally, I think, or at least my information is that, playing older Call of Duty games safely is related to... Call of Duty (2003) + UO (2004), Call of Duty 2 (2005), Modern Warfare 1 (2007), World at War (2008) and Black Ops I (2010) due to the use of server browser. Or am I wrong about something? I'd love to play some of the older games myself, I'd be happy for any latest info. :)

eh, it's not completely safe to play on server browser, but for CoD 1 you just get 1.6 community patch, for CoD 2, i believe that is 1.5, MW(2007) you just install CoD4X, WaW/Bo1, play via plutonium [as unless you wish to submit to zwr for BO1, you don't need to play it actually via steam]

OP is technically fear-mongering | except for MW2(2009), he's right on MW2 not;
1) having a community patch
2) having really anyway to defend yourself by NOT playing via steam

fyi it's only cod games with matchmaking that are vulnerable, cod4/waw/bo1 and so on are good

Another one incorrect again, thinking he's smart. Any of the games that were Peer 2 peer are vulnerable, which is all of them.

Well the zombies and coop modes in waw are p2p, which is a plus of using plutonium as it adds dedicated server support for those modes. I think zombies is p2p in bo1 too, but I'm not 100% sure on that as I refunded it(MP servers looked less populated than cod4)

I feel like all we can do is spam report these old cods as harmful so maybe Valve will take these down or maybe force their publisher / developers to idk actually make the games safer to play?

The sad thing is that there are people who do not believe this and they start playing it until in the end they are surprised that their PC has been infected. This has been known for many years, I know.
The author of the thread has fewer years on Steam than me and would not know about this, until he finally found out about this (as I did at the time) thanks to these threads and with this he also wanted to warn of these dangers.
I would rather play with the PeZBOT mod, which is a mod in which you can play multiplayer games against bots, than having my PC infected by some bad people with the intention of harming it.
