On a Saturday night only 500 guys in the world are playing this game. There are still 17 000 guys playing The Witcher 3 right now. Which is much more value for money and yet cheaper. Does it hurt Activision to lower their prices? Nobody will buy a 16 year old game for this price! So why even bother putting it on sale? It doesn't make sense and evidently they don't care. Even CODMW3 is sold for half of this one on sale...where is the reasoning?

It's a singleplayer and multiplayer game, with good reviews and a lot of development work put into it (the dev who made that sniper mission even kept it a secret about how much work and coding was done because he didn't want to scare/demoralize his boss into rejecting it) so I'm not sure why you are complaining about its price, especially when it is better than most games being released for the last decade.

It's quite funny how guys who don't own the game here seem to have all the advice. The game is almost abandoned and yet they try to squeese money out of it. Don't know if greed or arrogance is the problem. This game has never gone on a sale for more than 50% in 16 years. Can someone give a more reasonable answer why? It's the same for almost all the CODs.

Why should I spend $10 on something that I will use for less than 10 hours? That is just wasteful..

Fully patched up DVD versions with cod4x installed can play on the same servers as Steam users with cod4x installed(the vast majority of the playerbase uses cod4x, btw.)

So use your google-fu to find a DVD copy online, then manually patch it up to 1.7 and install cod4x, then either plug in a mic or install the Realtek Audio Drivers and enable Stereo Mix to avoid the crash on start-up when launching the cod4 MP exe.

Play the game, in the server browser set Source to Internet AVTI to see full list of all servers and choose one to join, then: run, shoot, die, respawn, repeat.

Thanks a lot dude! Out of respect I dont want a pirate or illegal version of the game. COD used to be one of my most favorite games at one stage and still a fan of zombies. I want to put this game through virtual reality and see what comes out. Multiplayer was the last thing on my mind. Already spent more than enough time on the multiplayer with friends in the past. Just need to get the campaign up and running and it seems to be a struggle as I've been waiting for a couple of years already trying to catch a good sale on Steam. But Steam data base shows it never goes below 50%? I will see if I can find a DVD copy only thanks.

Because i own an original copy of the game on a CD, ive owned this game since it came out and used the same CD ever since. it doesnt come up on steam

pirating the game leads to quicker bans on most servers since everyone is connected to the same profile. we see it all the time on NVTS servers. its better just to spend 20. 20 bucks is nothing.

It is because of activision, all of these games do not really drop lower. Also cod4 is one of the best cods so it is totally worth the money especially if you play on Altarware servers same as other cods too

I know it is one of the best CODs. COD multiplayer although is weak. After ghosts I stopped playing COD online and I will never play it again. I bought it at launch and it was a total rip off. Never will I spend serious money on a COD release again. Especially for multiplayer. So I only want it for Single player which doesn't justify the price.

I actually went and read the reviews on this game's remake and understand a lot more now. COD is dead. Extremely poor greedy leadership in their business and development model. Hope they will go bankrupt so that, someone who gives a f what the gamers want, can bail them out.

Ps, I didn't come here for a rant. Just advice where to find a legal justifiable priced copy. A game this old does not deserve more than $5. A guy who pays more than this must be desperate. Activision is in quick sand. And they don't appear to give a f. They should become farmers because they will excell in milking cows.
