If that doesn't work, try checking the Event Log (just search on it, it's part of Windows) to see if it has anything to say about drivers crashing.
I'd love to know if you've ever got around that stupid audio issue. i found a way around it but that's not the way a game should work
Going into windows audio settings and turning on mono audio (which forces all channels into a single one) restores the voices but of course, it is no longer stereo.
The game may have been installed without the redistributables for some unknow reason.
