Mouse problems (related to DOSbox?)
Sometimes the mouse gets stuck just underneath the game window (over the toolbox, below the main window). The only way I have to fix it is to restart the game... is it related to DOSbox or to the game itself? If the former, how to avoid it?

Mouse works perfectly fine on Windows.

Toggle in and out of fullscreen mode with alt+enter?
jackbomb 6 Sep, 2016 @ 5:05pm
I've just finished the game. Strangely enough, happened a few times after, and solved it doing strong circles with the mouse itself... tried the alt+enter without success, but this "solved" it.

Have the same problem. When this happens I'm only able to move the mouse to the left and to the right. No way to get to the menu to save the game at the present location. I hope this will get fixed soon. Seems to be a common problem. Same happens in the GOG version (at least it did 2010) and it seems that it also happened in the CD release.

I also have this problem. The strong circle method jackbomb mentioned worked for awhile, but eventually the motion is reduced to a horizontal line just like Woodenkiwi. In other games this meant the mouse was reaching the bounds of the window fullscreen or not. This however seems strange that it would get reduced to a single line. No permanent fixes so far unfortunately.

Thank you for this, I'm near the end of the game and couldn't get it to save. Saved me a lot of time! xxx

I am having this issue to. What do you mean strong circle? Just move the mouse in circles and that will fix it?

I don't think there's a fix, constant saving can be needed

What you can try doing is: 1. Running the game manually (Not through steam libary)
2. Use an updated ver of dosbox. I doubt this will work but, it is worth a try.

If anyone is still having this issue, I have found a temporary fix that works for me that at least allows you to save before quitting and restarting the game.

The problem seems to be some lost frame of reference for the boundaries of the cursor. What worked for me is moving the cursor to the far bottom right of the screen, minimizing the game with alt+tab or Windows key, then the game should be in a window instead of full screen. Click back into the game window in the bottom right of the game screen where your cursor is. You should now be able to access the whole screen with the cursor.

It is only temporary, though, and once the issue happens it seems that it will recur within a few clicks. So the only thing you should do is save and quit, then reopen the game.

Hope this helped someone!

I prefer to play my games windowed, and testing to see if I could figure out if it would help, disabled the autolock, so my mouse wasn't constrained to the window. Almost immediately it was clear that the mouse position and cursor for the game weren't lined up, as my mouse would leave the window with the cursor like 3/4 of the way to the edge. My suspicion is that this is happening (and slowly creeping to bad values/infinity) each time the cursor jumps to the fast-forward button, because my mouse position clearly wasn't getting that update (if I push the mouse slightly down from there, it does not leave the window). But with the autolock being off, when my mouse/cursor do desync (cursor center-ish screen, but my mouse just left the game window), I can just move my mouse around the window, and re-enter from the other side of the screen to sync them back up again. It's annoying, and happens much more often than the 'stuck to the edge' problem, but at least it keeps the game playable.

TLDR: Edit dosboxPHANT.conf and in the first block of options, I changed
fullscreen=false windowresolution=1600x1200 autolock=false

You can use a different windowresolution if you prefer, but original will probably be teeny tiny.
