Heroic Actions: Surrendering Nazis

For some reason when i get the option to capture a surrendering kraut it tells me to press rclick but when i do it doesnt start making them completely surrender

You need to aim your weapon at them while ADS. The process also takes a few seconds, which is represented by the circle near the surrender icon. Perhaps you didn't aim at them long enough?
