Setting to extend "interaction sphere" of controller further away
So I got my uncle to try using H3VR. Now he's not much of a gamer, but he really likes guns, so I thought that he would be able to pick up the controllers, see how to interact with things and then shoot some guns. But as it turned out, the interaction spheres used for grabbing bolts and things were too close to the actual controller that he couldn't understand how it worked and I had to assist him.

So I think that if there was a setting that slightly extended this sphere out like 3-5cm, (a bit less than 6 inches), then it could make the experience a bit better.

To clarify I am using Quest 2 and its controllers.

This isn't something I can do. The interaction system assumes, very deeply, that the centerpoint of the hand itself, and that sphere, are very close. If they were allowed to be distant, there are many interactions that would either 'jump', jitter back and forth, or auto-terminate. I'm sorry but this is a spatial assumption very deeply ingrained in the game's design.

ah so the things you pick up become linked to the controller not the sphere, so if you pick up an object when its not near the hand it will immediately teleport to the hand and be weird

Well if its a fundamental issue stopping that from happening then oh well
