Out of Memory Error Possible Fix
To those struggling with even booting the game due to the out of memory error do the following.

1. Go to this link and download the file https://www.sendspace.com/file/0q54vs

2. Using a program such as winrar extract the file to the game directory. Extracting it to this location should create a folder named "players2" if it wasn't already there or added files into it if it was previously created.

If you can't find the directory right click on the game in steam and go to properties and find the button labeled "browse local files" and you will head right to it.

3. In the "players2" folder within the game directory there should now be a file named "config_mp.cfg" which you will need to open with a text editor such as notepad. Inside you will see a bunch of text but you can ignore it as you need to just paste the following lines into the file and save it.

seta 0x706663C2 "1"
seta 0x617FB3B4 "1"

4. After saving the file create a copy of it and name it "config.cfg" and keep both the original "config_mp.cfg" and this copy in the "players2" folder.

5. launch the game, which should now work but is in a windowed mode.

6. In the in game settings you may now change the display mode to borderless windowed and disable the shader preloading to assist in preventing future crashes.

I can't guarantee this will work for everyone as I have not done extensive testing on it but I do know it worked for me when launching the campaign and it may end up working for others as well. The original post I got this from was https://node2.projectplanet.cn/@steamcommunity.com/app/393080/discussions/0/3800526843217159090/ but due to it being difficult to understand I decided to make a post that is, I think, at least marginally easier to comprehend.

Small update. You don't need to do this for H2M as it should launch normally assuming you installed H2M correctly. (I am not going to explain how as that is entirely irrelevant to the purpose of this post)

I did an alternative method to get into initial windowed mode (windows 11 OS). I booted into safe mode with network support (need this to run steam) and launched the game. Got past the out of memory and ran the game for a few hours and logged off. Next day, booted up and the game started fine, but during the start up video with the map, it froze. Read about turning off the shader pre-loads. So, did that and now the game loads and plays fine after a number of sessions.
