If you're getting Journey I assume you have PS3/4, I would recommend Shadow of the Colossus as well. Apart from the actual bosses it has a very similar exploration/discovery feeling and everything is beautiful to see just as these two games are.

Also I'll second AER, it's the closest thing and has that same feeling of Journey that is just very fun to play around in.

PS- If it's underwater type of game you're into, Subnautica is similarly beautiful and can be relaxing/peaceful but also more stressful at times.

I will second AER and RiME from the above post.

Though I would say that RiME probably has the clearest story out of them all (by the time you get to the end). But it was still unexpected for me. And RiME has more platforming and puzzles. But I loved it.

Also, Flower is made by the same people who did Journey. It's an earlier game of theirs. It's probably the most different in that you are literally controlling flower petals via the wind. I hope that it's better on the PC though, because I played it on PS4 and got annoyed having to use the motion controls.

It's a very interesting game with a nice atmosphere and story like ABZU and Journey

I would like to add another to this list, it's old but it's not lost it's beauty. You can play it slow and just enjoy it or play it fast and work your way through the battles. I have played it many of times though it won't slow in my list as it's one that I bought years ago and found it relaxing through a difficult time, when my best friend was dying.
Sorry to bring that into it but it shows how wonderful this game can be as you swim around unlocking it's secrets and easter eggs.

I second that, but the scary moments can be very scary, just watch some videos and see lol
But stay in the shallows and it can be relaxing.

Thanks 🙂 I have bought AER , though not had time to start it yet. Will definitely look at those other suggestions.

How about SpaceEngine? It looks wonderful for someone who just wants to explore the universe without getting into space battles.

I recommend Meadow by Might and Delight (Shelter series that is about European wildlife) and Flower. Subnautical is good if you like the ocean theme although Subnautica is very intense so if you're looking for zen, don't do Subnautica.

Thanks for the recommendations, I have been playing Flower recently on PS3, it is great. Will add Meadow to my list, I seem to have enough games to take me into retirement now, not complaining though

RIME is $1 at fanatical website flash sale

I highly recommend the game "Eastshade" - it's a beautiful game where you play an exploring painter. It is calm and has stunning graphics, landscapes and unusual but heartwarming quests. (Such as: paint me a specific feeling ... so you have to find someone who displays that feeling... or find a natural arch in nature and so on...)

It is relaxing and just beautiful. And it was made by only two dedicated people, a couple I believe.
Just check it out :)

I just finished Journey in Epic Games for the first time. WOW what a beautiful game. You can really see that they took some good aspect from Journey to put them on Abzu
