Worked just fine, i tested now right now (redownloaded it to make sure) you need WinRar if you do not have it already and if you do update your WinRar archive extractor

edit: now got win 11
gtx 1070ti 8gb, ryzen 7 1700 and 16gb ram works for me now
You can edit the vodoo file with a text editor and change settings to lower
My laptop pc is i7-4 2.9 ghz | 6GbGTX 970m | 12gb ram | Win 10 latest

That's really odd, I'm not too sure why the audio would be effected. Try checking the dgVoodoo.conf with dgVoodoo program (google) or just hex/text edit it and see if some how the audio is being changed?
