Artillery Bombardment into Battles?
So I assume that bombarding into a province in which there is a battle only effects the enemies morale and fortifications. However, since the bombardment is technically targeting the province does this bombardment also effect your friendly troops (Like a friendly fire of sorts).

Bombardments that target units in a region can have a collateral effect.
So bombarding a province that has friendly units (engaged in battle) is a bad idea?

Depends on your ability to withstand casualties.
I usually bombard before attacks, and then stop bombardment when my troops go in. Same as in a real battle. Sometimes I have just 1 or 2 cannon still bombarding during battle but not a full arty park churning up the province and everyone in it like mashed potatoes.
This is an old thread but I'm going to add info; Observation balloons and any air units improve accuracy of fire and thus decrease friendly fire.
