What Lies Beneath Performance Drop
Performance falls off a cliff when you go through the Red door after scanning its' control panel and see the giant mining laser, I went from ~150 fps down to ~20fps, something is definitely wrong with this area

It seems to be caused by the rocks being lifted to the mining ship, If I angle the camera up enough to still see the beam while looking at the ship and get the rocks to disappear, I hit 150fps on my 165hz screen

It seems like the Rock chunks use an absolutely insane amount of polygons per rock which quickly bogs down the performance of the game the more that are on screen

In order to fix this issue, the rock models either need redone with less polygons or whatever to increase performance, or some other form of optimization in this area

Problem is even worse when you make it to the bottom of the beam after riding the lift, looking up the beam from the bottom drops FPS to 10, looking anywhere away from the rocks in the beam allows FPS performance to slowly recover and return to normal

Okay? Did you even bother to read the thread or did you just take this as an opportunity to tell everyone you play on Linux? There is nothing acceptable about the game dropping to 10fps because of rocks being sucked up into a mining ship

Even if I was playing with my monitor set to 60hz with the game at Low settings it still drops to 10fps in this section of the game while the rest of the game runs at a constant 60+fps

This was tested in multiple ways and it was proven that the rocks are the cause of the performance issue

actually i have a similar issue with Kingdom Come: Deliverance on Windows, cutscenes will drop to 10 fps .. not so on Linux.

Still why aon earth would you stress your hardware with unnecessaty high fps?
Can confirm massive drop in fps in that specific spot. Ryzen 5600 + RX6700
The performance fluctuates a lot between scenes in this game. Some scenes seem to be simply not or shoddily optimized, others are perfectly fine. Dev and publisher seem to have gone AWOL, so I'm not holding my breath for fixes.

With an 165hz monitor, FPSs up to 165 helps with smoother animations.

AFAIK, the average human eye can perceive differences in FPS from 10 up to 500, depending on the type of animation.
