Half Sword Playtest

Half Sword Playtest

Weapon control
Am I the only one who thinks controlling your attacks in the playtest is way worse than the demo? I know the playstyle is just a little different, and I can get used to that. But the problem of weapons being pulled to specific points like some attempt to "help" you aim is NOT helping. Especially with thrusting, I find that when I'm trying to stab with a knife, I end up turning away from the enemy because you have to be king arthur to pull it back.

Yep agreed
You are misreading what is happening. The *demo* had "help" with aiming your attacks. The playtest does not. The playtest hence feels far better and deeper because you can do what you want once you become skilled.

You just have muscle memory from the (relatively rudimentary in comparison) demo.

Not sure what issue you are having with stabbing. I think some people don't understand the material system in this game and the point of it. Your blunt peasant dagger is glancing off the gambeson when you try to stab *by design*.

Disagree
It feels not to great yea.
Yeah I just do not understand the thrusting at all. Everything feels so floppy. And I don't mean deflections or glancing blows, just the basic strike through air it's like my dude's wrists are made of jelly. I don't know what I'm missing.

agreed, love this game with everything in my soul
shanking people does feel unreasonably hard, stabbing with anything that isn't a two-handed spear, guisarme or fork seems pointless. Might just be me having issues with the controls though. At the very least pulling stabbing things with a dagger while locked in close-quarters should be easier, since that's the whole reason you'd carry one in the first place, anyway.

Stabbing with swords is extremely effective. You have to keep the material and physics system in the game in mind as well. It literally matters how pointy your blade is.

I feel like you missed a lot of my main points. Like I said, I get how the playtest is just different in ways that aren't necessarily negative, but there are absolutely problems I'm having beyond a skill issue such as the weapon sticking and poor thrusting control. I'll legitimately be stood still holding alt trying to pull my knife back and my camera ends up moving more than the weapon by the time it works - especially when crouched. I'm not complaining that the game is hard or the weapons are weak, I'm saying the character's movements are often acting against my own.
