The New Z, The New Beginning, Battle Royale. What's the difference?
I think the first is the original game from 2016, the second is its add-on from an unknown year, and the third is the multiplayer from 2020.

But why are all these three modes represented by three separate games on different pages in Steam, if they all launch the same launcher with the same modes?

Na the original game was back in 2012 and called The War Z, but due to trade mark issues in 2016 it was rebooted as infestation survivor stories,

It then refreshed and split off into 3 separate games over the years.

The new z - competitive game modes with rankings
The new beginning - the updated refresh of ISS and War Z
Battle Royal - Self explanatory.

When it was War z, it was at its peak, its gone down hill massively once it was bought out and rebooted.

The new beginning is a reboot of a reboot.
