Hello Agents!

Following the development of the game and according to the roadmap we have shared back when we first released the game, today we’d like to present our third free expansion of Mega City Force, this is the Janitor & Tunnels Update, it comes with a new agent with unique abilities, a new bonus level, more music, a new random event and some QoL & Bug Fixes!

• New optional level: Tunnels

Located after finishing the Japantown Level, similarly to other bonus levels, the entry to this level will be highlighted after defeating the bosses of Japantown at any difficulty level and any mode.

• New unlockable agent: Janitor

• An alternative random event has been added

• 2 new collectable tracks

• Parked vehicles are now immune to melee weapons, so there is no need to worry about exploding cars while performing melee attacks near them.
  
• Now, when using a Reroll in the shop the upgrades in the cart will become locked, meaning that conveniently they will not reroll but also that they cannot be removed from the shopping cart.
  
• Purchasing the Body Armor upgrade in the shop, now will not only increase the max health capacity, but also increase the current HP by 5.

• Decreased Factory boss money drop from 350 >> 300.
  
• Increased Prison boss money dropped from 330 >> 350.

• Minor visual fixes like missing shadows and enemy skin variants.
  
• Hitbox size of Sawbot, Nailbot and Sparkbot slightly reduced to match better their sprite.
  
• Fixed some occasional rounding errors in Accuracy and Stamina percentage values of the weapons stats.
  
  Fixed incorrect sound effects:

1. Fixed missing hit sound on cargo containers.
   
2. Fixed missing hit sound on cargo trucks
   
3. Fixed bug that prevented the Enforcer snoring sound from playing on the agent selection screen.

• Fixed incorrect skin picture displayed during the skin unlock animation when unlocking the tough skin for the Enforcer and Engineer agents.
  
• Fixed a bug with dual wielding weapons that would cause the ammo level to go under zero and become wrongly displayed as infinite.
  
• Fixed a bug where if the Extra Holster upgrade was acquired with cyborg bringing the weapon slots count up to 4 while having a melee weapon, the HUD indicator for the Melee slot would break and display an empty gap.
  
• Fixed a bug that prevented the tooltip from changing size when changing the weapon currently carried against the compared weapon in the ground.
  
• Fixed a bug that incorrectly displayed the damage per second stat of Blunt Objects when being compared. This was leading to situations where 2 weapons compared against each other impossibly showed as having less damage than the other.
  
• Increased the damage bar maximum in the weapon stats, since some melee weapons were far surpassing the bar maximum when factoring in the stats and upgrades from the player inspecting the weapon.
  
• Fixed a bug that caused the boss in Factory (Level 2.5) to become stuck without attacking under certain circumstances.
  
• Fixed a bug that caused corpses not to be always charred when killed by the Incinerator Unit weapon from the Robot.

The Factory & Robot update is here after a delay, and it is packed with new content, QoL improvements (we’ve fixed the melee system, read below to learn more!) and as usual, a bunch of bugs has been identified and fixed, so here’s the update! 🔥





In other words, now they do not count towards the maximum you can carry but you can only carry one melee weapon at a time. Additionally, the basic melee attack will now always try to use the currently carried melee weapon so the player can benefit from their better statistics without having to swap manually to them. Nonetheless, the player can still select the melee weapon normally and use it as its main combat weapon like before.

(This currency can be exchanged while in the shop in order to refresh the randomized shop contents)


The game is shifting from hidden levels towards Bonus Levels. We decided to do that to make Bonus Levels more accesible for players, as we can see that a lot of people don't even know that those hidden locations exist in the first place. Additional levels are a part of the whole game experience, and we want to give an opportunity to as many players as possible to be able to access these parts of the game, and enjoy fighting new bosses and unlock more agents.

So now the entrances to Bonus Levels are clearly indicated with the camera focusing on their entry. Now these levels will spawn multiple medkits on their entrance area; in addition, a re-roll die will be granted when defeating the boss on these levels.

• Added a new random event
  
• Added 2 new collectible tracks.
  
• Added a new animation sequence to the game ending to clearly show when a new skin has been unlocked.
  
• Added an extra line for melee weapons, describing the effect they cause.
  
  1. “Stun 1s” for Blunt Objects.
     
  2. “Bleed 4s” for Sharp Objects.

❗ But that's not all!

The citywide Steam Winter Sale will begin shortly, and we have opted in! Expect new decorations in the HQ and a whopping 20% discount on Steam starting at 21st December, 10:00AM PDT!

• The tracking of the bullseye combo was inconsistent and confusing for weapons that shoot more than one projectile at a time. The combo was reset or increased based on the outcome of the first impact of the projectiles of the attack. To fix these, 2 actions have been taken:
  
  1. Now the successive projectiles of a burst are tracked individually (same as non burst projectiles) and each one will increase or reset the bullseye combo accordingly at the time of its impact.
     
  2. Now the simultaneous projectiles of a “multi shot” (like shotgun pellets) will increase the bullseye combo when any of them hits an enemy and reset the combo only when all of them have impacted and missed.
  
  
• Fixed an issue that tracked incorrectly the accuracy for the marksman contract with continuous attacks (Plasma guns and Electro-guns) making them track more hits than intended, even causing the percentage to go above 100%.
  
  
• Fixed an issue that considerably limited the fire rate of dedicated melee weapons.
  
  
• Firing will not be interrupted by any other inputs now; so Electro-guns, Particle beams and automatic weapons with charge time will not “restart” when the ability button is pressed, for example.
  
  
• Fixed a weird interaction with elements that drop to the ground and the parking lines in the MegaCorp level that caused these elements to move out of the parking lines, this was specially affecting gameplay when using weapons that shoot projectiles that drop to the ground like grenades.
  
  
• Fixed small misalignment of the Modern Machine Gun silhouette placement in the HUD.
  
  
• The damage (Max DPS) shown in the information/tooltip for weapons with attacks that cause effects like radiation, burn or bleed was displaying a higher value than the maximum damage per second they can actually output.
  
  
• Fixed a situation where the Captain sprite could stay white.
  
  
• Fixed a rare bug where some weapons (mostly laser weapons) will jam if dying under a very specific timing and then reviving with the self-revive. Swapping weapons fixed it, but one of these weapons specifically (Binary Laser) also blocked weapon swapping, invalidating the workaround.
  
  
• Fixed a visual bug that displayed a 6hp text popping up when it is actually 7hp if you pick a health pack while having the medical nanites upgrade.

Work on this update was quite hard, but nonetheless I am happy the way that it turned out. It is not the last update, so after a short coffee break, I will start working on the next update according to the roadmap. Today, we want to share with you a substantial change that we believe is important to us. For context, “Mega City Police” started from a retro-style action vision, the goal was to create a game that evokes nostalgia, transporting you back to the action films of the '80s and '90s era and for that we chose “Mega City Police” to reflect this theme.

In the spirit of transparency and for a better future, we have decided to change the name to “Mega City Force”. This decision was influenced by several factors:

> The Essence of the Game: “Mega City Force” better represents the core of our game – a group of old-school action heroes fighting for justice in the city called Mega City.

> Name Complications: Certain social events have unexpectedly cast a significant negative spotlight on the term “police” in connection with our game, in ways never intended.

> Negative associations: We acknowledge that some may connect the game to negative aspects such as police brutality, which prompted them to refrain from playing, we support the law, but not rigidity and violations. We care about people's feelings and don't want associations to cause negativity.

With all that in mind, we have one more important announcement to make.

New Update — Factory & Robot Expansion

We promised the Factory & Robot update will arrive in Autumn, yet in the end this is going to be delayed until December 21st. We'd like to apologize for the delay, but this allows us to properly layout a plan for the name change.

Now, we're reaching out to you, our incredible community. Your feedback is invaluable to us, so please share your thoughts. We're confident “Mega City Force” will maintain the action and immersive gameplay you adore. As we grow, expect more exciting adventures and updates as per our roadmap.
