IN A NUTSHELL: probably the best open world exploration experience I've ever had.

...and that's saying a lot. I am extremely critical towards games of this type usually. However, I had no idea that Ghost of Tsushima was THIS GOOD. It is beyond a mere video game...it is art. Best 60 bucks I ever spent.

Praise be to Jesus Christ who bled on the cross for our trespasses and was raised from the dead for our justification! He loves you, trust in Him for your salvation and you will spend eternity with Him.

Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut is an outstanding expansion of an already exceptional game. This is hands down, the greatest game I've played in the past decade.

This is the kind of game you wanted from assassins creed.
It's a fantastic open world game, visually stunning, incredibly fun to play, whether you choose to progress as a noble warrior or a stealthy ninja and a very immersive representation of feudal Japan. The main missions story is unbeliveable making u get stuck to the game just wanting to keep progress through it. 10/10 game.

Peak gaming. You can take combat how ever you like depending on the difficulty settings. Legends mode offers potentially a hundred hours worth of good content, unlockables to strive for, and the sense of accomplishment and style is present all throughout. Great game, get it

My opinions on Ghost of Tsushima are very mixed. One one hand its definitely a good game. However, there were a lot of things that subtracted from the experience.


PROS:

- Ghost of Tsushima is one of the best looking games I have ever played. Riding around on my horse and just taking in the scenery from location A to B was sometimes even better than the objective itself. The game also knows it is beautiful and uses it to its advantage by making some quest tied to the environment such as finding a field of blue flowers.

-I found the story overall enjoyable. It was very interesting to see Jin's conflict between his honorable code and want to save his people. Maybe the honor themes were slightly overused, but I didn't mind it.


NEUTRAL:

- The combat starts out fun, but very quickly stagnates when you get a few upgrades. If you do a decent bit of side objectives early, then by Act 2 you are basically unkillable. You are given a handful of tools, but I feel that most players will pick one and ignore the rest because why bother when you can throw three kunai into a fight and end it before the enemy can draw their weapon. There are also too few enemy types. By Act 3 I was annoyed to get into fights because I didn't need anymore upgrades and it was pointless killing the same Mongols I had been fighting for thirty hours.


CONS:

- The game struggles with the same issue that many other open-world games face: a lack of interesting side content. There is only so many times I can follow a fox to a shrine before I want to skin it alive and there a WHOPPING 49 fox shrines! Doing little side content is fun the first couple times, but when the devs spam them all over the map and pretend that this is engaging content is when I have an issue.

- On the topic of side content, the side missions in this game are actually just garbage. They all feel the same with a different setting. "Help me! Mongols are doing bad things! Please!" You track them down and kill the same enemies you've been fighting for hours and return to the NPC. I also noticed that for some reason you do more tracking in this game than in Horizon Zero Dawn, the game where you literally play as a hunter. The special Mythic Tales quests are more interesting, but I wouldn't call them very good.

* I also wanted to add a smaller section about the important character side quests. They mostly start out with an interesting premise, but what kills them is their length. These side quests which could be told in three to five missions are nine missions long. It feels like filler to "add more content" to the game, but it only makes me hate them. I also thought most of them had unsatisfying endings, but that is my opinion.

- Finally I thought the multiplayer was bad. I don't blame it too much as it was extra content added onto the game after launch that was unexpected, but that doesn't mean it isn't very boring. They also have a stupid gear system to inflate the amount of hours you will need to play to do all the content.


TLDR: Ghost of Tsushima is a good game brought down by the need for it to be an open world game. Ignoring most of the side content will make the experience overall better, but if you are a completionist then prepare to be bored.
