Once Human & Linux = <3
Hey,

I`m just popping in here to give you a tips on how to run Once Human on Linux with the same performance close to windows without stutter etc.

So from reading ProtonDB etc, Things looked grim, and most Linux players did give up running the game, due it was close to unplayable over a longer session.

But, there is not much you need to do for making the game run silky smooth.
Use the GE-Proton7-50. You dont need any launch argument for running it flawless.

Saw many was trying Async etc, saying it was working. But the fact the Async has not been a thing for a long time and is not implemented and removed from proton.

I have not encountered any issues, and the game runs pretty much flawless.

Hope this helped some of you.

Im running the game from Linux kernel 6.10.3-4-cachyos right now in 4K on Nvidia.

Did inform Valve about the finding, and the community has been struggling with running the game on Linux for close to 5 weeks now.

Cheers:cozyroe:

I know what you mean here. I have seen, the problem you have. Its the netease launcher that dont boot. Try booting the game normaly first. then swap after and relaunch. or restart computer. It can hang from time to time.

pkill wine and pkill exe, these commands usually clear all wine programs and helped me launch stuff if something was stuck.

its not a issue of something being stuck running in the background i never get that EULA so it never really starts

GE-Proton7-55 works for me.

Later versions constantly stutter when reading from disk, even though the performance is good when standing still.

CPU: i5-8400
GPU: RX 6600 8GB
RAM: 16GB
Fedora 39
Kernel 6.10.6
X11

Try deleting the wineprefix ~/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/2139460

i couldnt get it to run on steam but on epic works fine, just use port proton to install epic game launcher and run from there .

Proton 7 no longer works. It says "an error has occurred while loading imports. Wrong dll present." This happened out of the blue after happily playing on 7 for months. Nothing fixes the error, from reinstalling proton, to reinstalling the whole game, to adding dlls with protontricks. Ugh

^ Righto! ("...yes, yes, to Obi-ImHot you listen...")

"Wrong DLL present" is the ONLY feedback/result I get when using ANY of the STEAM listed Proton emulators, EXCEPT the Hotfix & Experimental ones. Hotfix will run (if barely), but I've never fully reached server using Experimental (although it looks & 'feels' smoother/faster in the login & then loading screens, it will always crash, usually in the "Loading vegetation" phase...).
