[Fixed with Workaround][GNU/Linux] Game won't start
Hi, I've just bought the game and the game won't start. I've looked for messages in the journal and /var/log/messages, and nothing.

Running from the terminal, I get the following output, no error whatsoever, and I couldn't find any verbose/debug parameters
$ ./Toridori.x86_64 no boot config - using default values [UnityMemory] Configuration Parameters - Can be set up in boot.config "memorysetup-bucket-allocator-granularity=16" "memorysetup-bucket-allocator-bucket-count=8" "memorysetup-bucket-allocator-block-size=4194304" "memorysetup-bucket-allocator-block-count=1" "memorysetup-main-allocator-block-size=16777216" "memorysetup-thread-allocator-block-size=16777216" "memorysetup-gfx-main-allocator-block-size=16777216" "memorysetup-gfx-thread-allocator-block-size=16777216" "memorysetup-cache-allocator-block-size=4194304" "memorysetup-typetree-allocator-block-size=2097152" "memorysetup-profiler-bucket-allocator-granularity=16" "memorysetup-profiler-bucket-allocator-bucket-count=8" "memorysetup-profiler-bucket-allocator-block-size=4194304" "memorysetup-profiler-bucket-allocator-block-count=1" "memorysetup-profiler-allocator-block-size=16777216" "memorysetup-profiler-editor-allocator-block-size=1048576" "memorysetup-temp-allocator-size-main=4194304" "memorysetup-job-temp-allocator-block-size=2097152" "memorysetup-job-temp-allocator-block-size-background=1048576" "memorysetup-job-temp-allocator-reduction-small-platforms=262144" "memorysetup-temp-allocator-size-background-worker=32768" "memorysetup-temp-allocator-size-job-worker=262144" "memorysetup-temp-allocator-size-preload-manager=262144" "memorysetup-temp-allocator-size-nav-mesh-worker=65536" "memorysetup-temp-allocator-size-audio-worker=65536" "memorysetup-temp-allocator-size-cloud-worker=32768" "memorysetup-temp-allocator-size-gfx=262144"

Help!

Edit: Find All game has the same issue.

I'm on Fedora 38 KDE, X11, using an Intel Arc GPU with Mesa drivers. Let me know what other info you need.

First issue: it was built with a very old broken version of Unity that crashes when PulseAudio is not in use. Workaround: use apulse (edit launch options of the game and write: "apulse %command%").

Second issue: the "ToriDori_Data" directory should be named "Toridori_Data". Once it is renamed, the game works.

It’s really bad that the developers give zero support for their games…

I've installed mono-basic and mono-core packages locally, thinking it might have something to do with the .Net framework (I saw a Mono directory in the game), but that didn't change anything. I've removed them for now.

Later Edit: I've tested ToriDori and Find All on another system, Fedora 37 KDE, X11, nvidia GTX 970 with DRM drivers. The same happens, games fail to start.

FYI...

ToriDori now works. I've validated the files and it downloaded new files (which didn't happen before, even after uninstall and reinstall... I've tested that also, now, and it works as fresh install also). From what I've noticed, now I have two sets of Data and Debug dirs. One names ToriDori and One Toridori. I guess there's an issue on how the dev handles the file names and paths, they might not have taken into account GNU/Linux file systems are case sensitive. I think the dev has still more to learn about Unity. This directory "ToriDori_BurstDebugInformation_DoNotShip" clearly suggests these debug dirs should not be part of the release package. :)

Find All and Find All 2 still don't work.

Also having this issue, on Ubuntu. Validation has not installed any new files. I'll try reinstalling but it looks like the devs aren't interested in looking at this problem :(
The author of this thread has indicated that this post answers the original topic.

New install, got into the same problem as before. I just copy pasted "ToriDori_Data" into "Toridori_Data" to make it start. :lunar2019coolpig:

As for the troubleshooting the issue, I've found the Unity engine log that hints the root cause in ~/.config/unity3d/Very Veru LITTLE Studio/ToriDori/Player.log.
Unable to load mono library from .../steamapps/common/ToriDori/Toridori_Data/MonoBleedingEdge/x86_64/libmonobdwgc-2.0.so
Clearly there's a case sensitive config issue. Looking at the dev dir name in Unity over all the games I have from them, I don't think they bother: "Very Veru LITTLE Studio", "Very Very LITTLE Studio", "Little Studio". :lunar2019laughingpig:
