It is not requared to play any yakuza games, especially yakuza 0 because it feels kinda out of story even if they meant to make it as prequel, doesnt feel like a natural plot for me.
Infinite Wealth is a great point to start your journey, since you are on Hawaii island so it si a totally different story, I mean even like a dragon 7 is a bit different so you can play it before or after infinite wealth, they are similar in turn based gameplay, and I love them.
Basically:
*Yakuza 0- Kiwami 1-2
**Yakuza 3-5
***Yakuza 6-8 (like a dragon 7, infinite wealth 8)
****Man who erased his name (without number should be actually the 8 game in main series), Pirates on Hawaii
*****Ishin!, here must be the second game in series that is not on steam yet.
******Judgment, Lost Judgment
Its totally different story arcs, you can freely skip them.
You can choose your own arc (two, three or four games with in some ways general plot) however you want.
Like, about half of this game is about Kiryu and the significance of most if not all of it will go over your head.
However, Infinite Wealth relies partially on Kiryu's backstory of 6 and what happened there, and fully relies on what happened in Yakuza: Like A Dragon, since it's basically "Like A Dragon part 2". It's a bit like seeing The Matrix Revolutions without seeing The Matrix Reloaded.
I would at least play Yakuza Like A Dragon, so you'll know what's going on and why your team members are your team members. You'll miss who smaller supporting characters like Watase, Dojima, Saejima, Majima and Ono Michio are, but nothing else.
but if u like games with great story i suggest play them all :D
