Why is Epic games forced in a steam game?

I don't know what happened in the time since I last played this years ago but it's a mess.

Does not play well with ultrawide. Cutscenes play in a weird square letterbox where half of the screen is missing.
Field of view is too zoomed in and locked. Not even 15 minutes in and I already had an NPC T-posing. (unintentionally of course, since we are talking about SR IV)
Button prompts and menu items are not scaled properly for higher resolutions, making them appear blurry.

The character creator seems less powerful than it's predecessor, and characters look like their pre-remaster versions. EXCEPT in-game, even though all of the menus do still read "re-elected".

And, as if all of that wasn't enough, it keeps pestering you about signing into Epic Games.

What an embarrassing experience.

Epic Games broke the game.

Fun game if it's your first game in the series, or you started with The Third. Divisive if you're an OG like me that started with SR1.

I like this game but the performance is horrible and every 30sec the game pause to ask me to link my account to epic game even if i press no they keep spamming it

Amazing game but actually unplayable after the "next gen" update, or whatever. Crashes constantly. Went back to the old version. Crashes constantly. Such a shame they ruined such a cool game.
