Guide to playing online with Australian friends
So as I'm sure you are all aware, there are two versions of Saints Row IV: the Australian version, and the international version.

These two versions of the game are not compatible with each other, and are therefore incapable of being played together in co-op.

So, in order to play co-op with a friend that has a different version of the game to you, there are a few short steps you will need to follow.

Prerequisite Knowledge
Between the two versions of the game, the following files are different:

SaintsRowIV.exe steam_api.dll videos/logo_amd.bik videos/logo_deep_silver.bik videos/logo_volition.bik packfiles/pc/cache/dlc1.vpp_pc packfiles/pc/cache/dlc2.vpp_pc packfiles/pc/cache/dlc3.vpp_pc packfiles/pc/cache/dlc4.vpp_pc packfiles/pc/cache/dlc5.vpp_pc packfiles/pc/cache/dlc6.vpp_pc packfiles/pc/cache/items.vpp_pc packfiles/pc/cache/patch_compressed.vpp_pc packfiles/pc/cache/patch_uncompressed.vpp_pc packfiles/pc/cache/preload_items.vpp_pc packfiles/pc/cache/sr3_city_0.vpp_pc

I want us both to play the Australian version
The player with the Australian version of the game needs to send the above-mentioned files to the player with the international copy, who will then need to replace their own copies of those files with the ones from the Australian version.

Once you both have the same version of the game, you should be able to play in co-op. When you want to revert your game to its original state, simply verify your game files in Steam.

Pro tip: getting a key for the international version of SRIV (licensed marketplaces like Amazon and IndieGala still offer them) works around the low violence version completely. A way to confirm this is by looking at the name of the license; if it doesn't contain "(AU)" in it, it's the international version.

Of course, the main purpose of those keys nowadays is to get Steam DLCs for the legacy version, so that's another bonus for any AU players interested in getting this game.
