For two decades, "PS exclusive" was a hard rule. It was never illogical because it sold systems, which was the entire point. This is subsidised game development, and it's not about getting the most unit sales but increasing the perceived value of the console. A game could cost more to develop than it made in unit sales, and it would still be worth it: a loss leader. ("Timed exclusivity" is also an old concept. I don't know why it's such a shock to you.)

It's still the same principle now, but they've sensibly softened the rule. 2+ years of exclusivity still provides a great reason to buy a PS to play those games, and expanding to PC later is an obvious way to maximise profit. If you're happy waiting years to play games, then no amount of permanent exclusivity was ever likely to move you to buy a PS anyway and you're not the kind of customer they're seeking for hardware sales. The customers Sony wants are very much aware that they could wait to get Horizon, Returnal, TLOU, Uncharted etc on PC, but they still choose not to because it's not worth the inconvenience to them.

PC has benefits, but if you want the most out of it then it has extraordinarily high (barely) hidden costs, too. You might not be paying a subscription, but you might as well be given the costs of the best graphics cards, CPUs, SSDs, monitors etc.

I wouldn't. When I love a game, I want as many other people to be able to play it. It makes me happy to think of more people experiencing it, and I'm happy for those people who are proud of working on the game seeing their creations reach yet more eyes.
