Open World - Open Ended?
I actually liked Marvels' Remastered Spiderman. The costumes gave me that perfect option for dressing up for modern or down for nostalgia. The controls were... decent. The combos, not half bad. What doomed it for me was how much I prefer my open world open-ended. Yes, I'm the guy who will sit through 3 hours of credits to unlock the open world at the end of the game. While I am very aware that I could simply ignore the main mission, I found myself very let-down when it turns out that what appears to be the random-bad guy mugging-etc is actually a limited set. Once the bad guys are dealt with... they are gone... ALL gone.

There are many games I could use as an example, I will however pick "Fable", since I alluded to it with the "credits" - once the game is over, if you enjoy the chill experience of being always needed to save the old lady being mugged, or the shop owner being robbed, etc... I like a game I can chill out too and continue being the hero with all my upgrades. I realize this isn't for everyone...

So... how does this game measure up to that standard? Any other game suggestions?

Probably very unrelated, but as a suggestion I would say try more of Dying Light. It is a very good game to just mess around in an open world, and without the DLCs there is a lot you can do, but there is a ton more to do if you have all the DLCs. The Following has gotta be one of my most favorite game expansions of all time.
