Lol yeah his fight is a bit of a snuggle struggle on Ishin without using cheese builds (or having clear data but wheres the fun in that).
There are more difficult fights ahead, as you guessed, but luckily ishin/legendary difficulties have a lot of that DS and Nioh effect where you get walled so often that you're forced to either find the best possible exploits or git extremely gud.
Either way, saucing on an enemy that had previously hard blocked a quest is a hella big dopamine hit .
Yea, I think I'd be more fine with it if the character I'm fighting wouldn't have been this one.
It just feels off. But, oh well. I will return to him with cards.
Yea, I haven't gotten to the point where I unlock them.
First playthrough, late chapter 4, did pretty much anything else I could do before wearing the sky blue, which is the next story beat.
I used leaping maelstrom on the goons to get them out of my way.
You can do this two times to finish them as quickly as possible or you try to target Akemi too so you can chip some health away. Does some okay damage.
I then used essence of swirling cuts and lightnings glory/sword tiger drop repeatedly.
Also tried to avoid his overhead swing because that will kill ya instantly. You should stack up on some health and heat items. In case you do get hit (heal quickly if you do) and in order to spam that heat.
This was harder than Ishin Komaki.
At least there you can press parry and tiger drop simultaneously.
