Akumi Boss fight from Wanted Men List is stupidly hard on Ishin
What the hell is this.
I'm over level 40, well skilled out. I have very good armour and weaponry.
But I can't beat that guy? It takes ages to reduce his health bar and he kills me in two hits.

Maybe it's because I play without cards? But this is insane.
Now, as stated above, I'm playing on Ishin difficulty and some hardship is to be expected. But no other boss fight has felt that unfair to me, tbh. Because, while I took some real damage when I wasn't careful, it always felt rewarding to get a hit in because the damage I dealt felt decent enough. This time it just feels like I slightly poke him.
It's an annoying test of stamina.

It's so out of place too. It's some incel charlatan and Ryoma has trouble beating him?
If some sidequest villain is like this, I dread how the Amon fight will go down.

Edit:
Okay, so... I changed to easy mode (save reload afterwards) in order to test how strong he is there. And, while you can beat him easily, he's still an incredible damage sponge. What the hell were they thinking? Why does this guy have so much health?

I think cards are fair game on Ishin difficulty.

Lol yeah his fight is a bit of a snuggle struggle on Ishin without using cheese builds :mhwhelp: (or having clear data but wheres the fun in that).

There are more difficult fights ahead, as you guessed, but luckily ishin/legendary difficulties have a lot of that DS and Nioh effect where you get walled so often that you're forced to either find the best possible exploits or git extremely gud.

Either way, saucing on an enemy that had previously hard blocked a quest is a hella big dopamine hit :cozymhw:.

Yea, I think I'd be more fine with it if the character I'm fighting wouldn't have been this one.
It just feels off. But, oh well. I will return to him with cards.

Yea, I haven't gotten to the point where I unlock them.
First playthrough, late chapter 4, did pretty much anything else I could do before wearing the sky blue, which is the next story beat.

Okay, I beat him.

I used leaping maelstrom on the goons to get them out of my way.
You can do this two times to finish them as quickly as possible or you try to target Akemi too so you can chip some health away. Does some okay damage.

I then used essence of swirling cuts and lightnings glory/sword tiger drop repeatedly.
Also tried to avoid his overhead swing because that will kill ya instantly. You should stack up on some health and heat items. In case you do get hit (heal quickly if you do) and in order to spam that heat.

This was harder than Ishin Komaki.
At least there you can press parry and tiger drop simultaneously.

It's not even that it's a difficult fight, it's that it goes on for so long and has so little actually going on that eventually I'll just forget to dodge and get destroyed in two hits. This is a battle against my own ADHD.
