Idk why the people hate on random thing, have faith.
Why you say that, there are a source?
Honestly, from past experiences with solo or small dev team projects, it is likely that 1 of 3 possible things will happen with this game considering the glacial pace at which development seems to be taking place:
1. The game isn't going to release. Development is SLOW; like, this has been in my wish list for 2 years and elements of basic combat mechanics and crafting are still working on (supposedly) being added. Solo dev work is slower than a team sure, but this is really really slow which likely means that the game is far from being a priority for the dev.
Patreon does have almost 300 dollars a month coming in for the dev though, so it wouldn't surprise me if infrequent posts or updates do occur before slowly petering out over multiple years; either to keep the extra passive income coming in from patreon supporters that are either too forgetful or too hopeful to stop supporting the game, or just due to the dev losing motivation over time.
2. The game will release within a year or two (likely in early access) in an unfinished/unpolished state with updates promised to fix the issues or lacking content. A few patches and maybe a small content update will occur, then the game will be essentially abandoned by the dev who will take whatever money they got then bounce.
3. The game will release and it will be awesome! But it will be many years before it does. Settle in for a looong wait.
Technically, it isn't impossible that it releases to early access in a very playable state with solid content within the next couple years then built on from there, but I doubt it. The development pace is too slow to support that kind of release model successfully at the moment.
I've seen a ton of solo dev and small dev team projects with slow development go the way of the first two listed possibilities and only a few end up going the way of the third. It would be a different story if development was happening quicker, but that just isn't the case here. Not trying to be a downer, but statistically speaking, that's what we are likely looking at.
Best to put this game to the back of your mind for now and be pleasantly surprised if one day Steam pops up letting you know it has been released. That's pretty much how I am handling it at this point.
