It's a shockingly mindless game for me, and despite how far I got in my first run, I didn't really feel like I was getting better. I felt a bit like I was just lucking out, especially given the amount of trouble I was having avoiding danger. There's also a lot happening at once visually, which makes it hard for me to focus on what I'm doing and where my projectiles and attacks are headed. I also kinda felt like I'd rather be watching the development video about the game as opposed to playing it, but I think if I outright didn't like it, I wouldn't have managed to spend more than 10 minutes on it in one play session?

It does feel like there's a lot of passion behind the game, and the mechanics are unique. I quickly got attached to any monster I used, and I think the fruit modifier mechanic is pretty cool. I found it pretty easy to navigate most of the time, and it's easy to stumble into treasure and stuff like that, which seems pretty uncommon for most rogue-likes, even the ones this game takes inspiration from. A lot of the ones I've played have it so you have to go out of your way to figure out how to find collectibles - binding of isaac is a particularly "egregious" example of this, I had to have the wiki open at all times to help me figure out how to get whatever unlock, but patch quest makes sure you know what things do and, again, its not hard to find things. I think it'd serve as a pretty good introduction to the genre.

I dunno. I don't think it's a bad game, I think it's just not *my* kinda game. I think it's worth trying!

Wish I bought it at full price, excellent for split-screen co-op.
