Reading isn't everyone's strong suit so I understand if you dislike the game, no reason to complain about it in discussions. Just leave a review and refund
I dont know who's claiming this game is superior. Sure it's interesting but its not exactly game of the year. You have to manage expectations when playing games, and text RPGs aren't exactly for everyone. I play this game to relax and read. I think the characters are interesting with sufficient physical and demeanor details to create unique interactions. Perhaps to you everyone feels the same because they are often described as tall and red haired, but I doubt the isolated region of the peninsula would have significant diversity. If anything this provides useful context clues for differentiating between natives of the peninsula and other outsiders such as your self. I have to qualify my statement by saying I've never played a text RPG before but this is more or less what I expected from the demo - didnt you try the demo before buying? Personally I wouldn't call it boring but certainly relaxing - I prefer this casual reading game to high octane games of split second decisions and impressive reaction times. Its too bad you didn't enjoy this game as much as I do. My only critiques are perhaps more audial variations, maybe ambient sounds. Maybe illustrations of monsters or characters.
hoo boy
My whole point was to respond to OPs complaints that all characters are fairly similar or "copies" of each other, which is fairly true given How many characters are described as fair skinned, tall, and a red headed. This isn't a bad thing and I seek to explain/justify this as result of the peninsulas geographic isolation which has likely been highly prohibitive to foreigners.
im not talking about physical characteristics, im saying all of their personalities seem like they were made by one boring dude that doesn't know how to make interesting characters, but yeah, they probably all look the same too if I COULD EVEN SEE THEM
Yeah, you can say you play the game to "chill" but that's just my point, only people that have zero investment into the game and story would like this game, because there's nothing engaging about it. You're only playing it to be as boring as the game is.
The writing is excellent, evocative yet punchy, avoiding flowery or purple prose. It engages in worldbuilding in a very natural fashion, never indulging in infodumps but giving you a sense of elements of the world as they become relevant. At every point I get the sense that the writing respects my time as a reader, never wasting it or lingering unnecessarily, while still giving me a strong sense of atmosphere and style.
The choices feel meaningful, though this might be an illusion and I may have to revisit this after some more time with the game. I do get the sense that I'm free to make allies or enemies as I see fit, and to approach quests in my own fashion (or not at all) depending on how I prefer to engage with the world. Even the choice of what to prioritise seems to matter, since some quests come with time limits.
Finally, the sandbox. The map isn't Elden Ring-huge, but it's sizeable and teeming with flavor. The characters I interact with feel lively and memorable, each with their own agenda and worldview, and even the minor locations so far in my playthrough have been interesting. I won't say there's no filler, but every location is well-thought-out and serves a purpose.
In short, a fantastic game. Possibly the best of this kind I've played.
Feel free to create your own game with a great, engaging storyline. If its that good, maybe we will sign it.
In the meantime, feel free to refund our game and let others enjoy playing it. Seems lots of them do. Thank you everyone!
OP made clear that he does not like the game, now derailing it, as the majority around here enjoys it (as 95% reviews on Steam also show).
As Chris said:
If you can write a better story, make your own game and feel even free pitching it to us. ;)
