the game is not responding, when i open the game some window appear but not respond. i tried XP compatibility an ddoesn't work. what happen?

I have everything I need, I made all the connections (35/35) and nothing happens. When I click on the hints nothing happens. I read about restarting the "level" but I don't see that anywhere. :-)

After trying everything tanidar suggested with physx etc I turned on my computer and couldnt figure out why but the games workes but only if i launched from their actual icons and not steam. Therefore steam overlay and its perks couldnt be applied. Last night knowing jack the ripper wasnt working i launched it again and it worked! Still with no idea why.
