Problem launching game (Windows 10)
I have windows 10 which may be the issue. If try to start it up, launching cod waw pops up just like when i start up any other game, but the game doesn't actually launch. If i try to start it up again, a message pops up saying that the game is already running. Loved this game when i was a kid so it sucks if i can't play it again :(

Try to run it like admin first time (exe file in installation folder).
I play game without issues on my windows 10 64bit .

Still doesn't start up :( Good to know it's not an issue with windows 10. In task manager it shows up as a background process, same as when i started it up normally. I tried a few other fixes like verifying game cache and downloading a common missing file (d3dx9_37.dll), but no luck. Thanks for reply tho :)

Try clicking a bunch of times once you press to start the game, that's what worked on my computer

Same problem here. Upon startup, I get a black screen for 3 seconds and get sent back to my desktop with the game still running. The same thing would happen when I click on the icon of the game still running. I would have to end the process with Task Manager.

So after a couple of hours I really did it. Blame me but I don't know, what I did.... (and excuse my english :-) I'll try to describe my way:

First of all I tried to start the app directly from the folder normal and as admin but there was allways a creepy error showin up "Application load Error 5:00....34" When I looked this up I found out that it has to be something to do with (steam) copy protection. So I verified the files....blabla bla

1. At least I reinstalled WaW on my primary drive in the steam folder (C:) not on D
2. it doesn't work at all BUT now I could launch that b*** from the folder with no app error
3. Launch the app with compatibility mode XP SP3 (only thing that worked for me) ---> AAAAAaaaaaand it worked!!!!
4. Had some probs with my mouse but tapping out to desktop and switching back again into the game repaired it

So I hope this is the way launching it. If not I'll have to mash up my brain to find out what i really did^^

It's my belief Microsoft is working toward "fixing" Windows 10 until it's broke or moving toward pushing everyone to game consoles and leaving the platform for business applications only. That said, I recall .Net framework 3.5 or later needing to be installed and/or updated for CoD:WaW to run properly. Try and see if that works. The other issue some of you may run into once you get the game to run is crash issues related to the 3D driver(s) and/or DirectX 12. Unfortunately, WaW was pretty buggy to begin with when it was released and came with 7 patches that followed its initial release. The only way I could get this game to run on Windows 10 was to forgo the game disc I have and purchase it through Steam, which did prompt me with the .Net framework update and it allowed the game to launch.

That sucks man, not everyone wants to leave behind windows.
Those greedy muffin heads.
Hey, I just found, if you go to your common > WaW folder, (google it if you dont know how to get to the WaW folder) and do properties, run in compatibility mode, Windows XP (Service Pack 2) and hit run as admin, it should work. It did for me anyway.

Sorry if this is hard to follow.
